Haridas Choudhry lives a wealthy lifestyle in Mumbai, India, along with his wife, Sonu, son, Guddu, and sister, Geeta. He had started his career as a lowly cobbler on a corner of a busy street, but is now the owner of a shoe company. His associates want him to make shoes that wear out soon, but he refuses to do so, and would like to buy out National Shoes for 20 Lakh Rupees. He withdraws the money, but before he could undertake the transaction, Guddu gets kidnapped, and the demand from his abductors is for 20 Lakhs. Much to his relief he finds out that his servant's son, Bansi, has been mistakenly abducted in place of his son. Nevertheless he decides to pay the ransom, this time with the help of Inspector Amarnath Gill, his sister's estranged boyfriend, who he had turned down as he was not wealthy enough. The money is turned over to the kidnappers, two associates, Manmohan and Preeti, are arrested, Bansi is found and returned to his dad. But the money and the real abductor, Raj Singh, is still at large - and as long as he remains at large none of them can really be safe for he has a grudge to settle against Haridas, and the missing 20 Lakhs may result in the bankruptcy of Haridas' company, they may have to forfeit their family home, and Haridas may well face a jail sentence for embezzling this amount for personal gain. But Inspector catches the thief and returns the money in the end.

Ramniklal was a NRI living in Uganda with his son Vijay (Dharmendra) and daughter Radha (Aruna Irani). They are planning to move back to India because of a civil war in the country. The night they were about to move, their home is attacked by rebels and set on fire. Vijay jumps in the fire to save his sister. He carries a woman out, but she turns out to be the housemaid in his sister's clothes (Radha asked the maid to choose the clothes she liked before she left and the maid asked her for the clothes she was wearing). Vijay's father dies from the trauma of losing his daughter. Vijay too believes that Champa burned with the house, but when no body is found he feels that there is something fishy. Nevertheless, he leaves for India alone as the country is embroiled in civil war.

Samir Sahni is a farmer living with his mom, dad, wife, Rama, a young daughter, and his younger brother, Veer. Samir gets an offer to work in the U.K., and departs accordingly. He would like to settle there, and after doing so, would like his family to also join him. The years go by, and Samir keeps in touch with his family regularly. Then the Sahni family stop receiving any letters from him, and are anxious to know what has happened to him. Veer is asked to travel to U.K. to find out, and he does so. What he finds are tens of thousands of East Indians on fake passports, working for less than minimum wages, poor unhealthy conditions, fear of being deported, and paying half of their earnings to fellow East Indians who had got them here through the underground. Veer finds no sign of his brother, and sets out to investigate, only to find deceit, murder, and his very own life in danger.

Rajkumar Shamsher Singh is the only son of the local Maharaja, and has been brought up as a brat, and now he is an irresponsible, alcoholic, and womanizing adult, who wants everyone to bow down before him and his princely rank. One priest refuses to do so, and Shamsher pummels him mercilessly, in vain though. Frustrated, he asks the priest what he should do with his mundane life, and the priest tells him that he should repent, sacrifice all his palatial pleasures, and live the life of a simple and ordinary man, and hence learn the true meaning of life, for at least six months. Shamsher agrees to do so, and arranges an accident with his car, which plummets down a mountain, explodes and is blown to smithereens. Everyone in the palace believes that Shamsher is dead. He goes to a nearby village, and a blind woman there mistakes him for her long-lost son and starts calling him Sajjan Singh. Shamsher decides to play along as Sajjan.

Aadmi is the story of an honest man (Vijay M. Srivastav) and his fight against corruption and country's traitors, but he is trapped and Jailed for a crime (murder of his own parents and brother), which he never committed. Vijay Srivastav lives a middle-classed lifestyle in Bombay along with dad, Mohanlal, mom, Sharda, and a younger brother, Raju. His father and brother manage a restaurant named 'Sahiba', while Vijay works as a Supervisor at the Ordnance Factory that manufacturers RDX for the Government of India and also moonlights as a self-defense instructor. He meets with wealthy Rekha, the only daughter of Advocate Saxena, and both fall in love with each other. Their respective parents meet and arrange their marriage. Before even the engagement could take place, Vijay is arrested by the Police and charged with killing his parents and brother, tried in Court, found guilty, and sentenced to five years in jail. On his first day behind bars, he is approached by Inspector Yeshwant Deshmukh, who asks him to cooperate and abduct Deepak, the son of an underworld don, and if he does so, he will only aid the Police but his crime will be pardoned and he will be released. He comes out of Jail, to destroy his enemies. Among other things, this film was notable for well known villain Shakti Kapoor's rare positive role of an honest police officer.
