As described in a summary in a film publication, the serial involves the mystery of the murder of William Stillman (Wells) and the finding of the heir to his fortune. Silent Joe (Farnum) arrives in an effort to discover the murderer and prove that he is the true heir. He and the heroine Lou (Anderson) have their adventures in the mountainous terrain with its "vanishing trails." They are aided by The Shadow (Orlamond), a demented scientist with his trained dog, and several remarkable, death-dealing inventions.

Manju (Sripriya) was raised in a dysfunctional family that consisted of a timid father and a philandering mother; she hurtles from one disastrous affair to another, leading to her degenerating into a cynical woman. Into her life enter two radically different men. One of them is her boss, Thyagu (Rajinikanth), who owns the advertising agency she works for. He is a stereotype of the successful man: money-minded, opinionated, arrogant, and a male chauvinist. In sharp contrast is Arun (Kamal Haasan), who has come to Chennai from Coimbatore to make a documentary on women. Sensitive and sincere, he believes his job has a purpose and is both shocked and amused at the cynical attitudes of Manju and Thyagu.

Armateur grec et considéré comme l'un des hommes les plus riches au monde, Theo Tomasis est un homme à femmes séducteur. Lors d'une soirée, il est séduit par Liz, la jeune femme d'un sénateur américain, James Cassidy, de passage en Grèce. Bien que marié à Simi, Theo est amoureux d'elle mais il la perd de vue. Quelques années plus tard, Cassidy est devenu le président des Etats-Unis mais Liz a du mal à se faire à son rôle de Première Dame. Dès lors, elle accepte une invitation de Theo pour une croisière en Grèce. Peu après son retour en Amérique, son époux est assassiné. Alors que le pays est traumatisé par cet assassinat, Liz trouve du réconfort dans les bras de Theo. Mais le fils de l'armateur meurt dans un accident tandis que sa femme Simi, hantée par le décès de leur enfant, se donne la mort. Malgré les épreuves qu'ils doivent surmonter, Theo et Liz trouveront ensemble du réconfort dans leur mariage.

Vikas Chandra (Vinod Mehra) and Aarti (Rekha) have recently married, and they move into their new apartment. One day they go out to watch a late night Hindi movie at a local cinema theatre. The movie gets over well after midnight, and as no cab is found this hour, they decide to walk home by foot. On the way, they are suddenly waylaid by four men, who assault Vikas, leaving him unconscious, and forcibly take Aarti with them. When Vikas regains his senses he finds himself in hospital with a head wound. He is informed that Aarti is in the same hospital, after being gang-raped and assaulted. This incident makes headlines in the media, and is also a subject of discussion by politicians during their election campaign. Vikas feels haunted by this incident, and does not know how to act further. Aarti, on the other hand, has been completely traumatised, and is unable to trust any male. Now the couple faces a serious crisis leading to a loveless relationship, and only a miracle can bring the old spark back into their married life.
