Ajouter à une liste de filmsThe Skywayman is a lost five-reel 1920 American silent film directed by James P. Hogan and produced and distributed by Fox Film Corporation. The film stars noted aerial stunt pilot Ormer Locklear, and co-starring Louise Lovely. After having appeared in The Great Air Robbery (1919), a film that showcased his aerial talents, Locklear, considered the foremost "aviation stunt man in the world", was reluctant to return to the air show circuit. During the production, Locklear and his co-pilot Milton "Skeets" Elliot died after crashing during a night scene. The Skywayman was subsequently released shortly after, capitalizing on their deaths.
Synopsis
Captain Norman Craig (Ormer Locklear) returns from the Lafayette Escadrille as a shell-shocked veteran, suffering from amnesia. Seeing him wandering around San Francisco, his girlfriend Virginia Ames (Louise Lovely), with the help of Dr. Wayne Leveridge (Sam De Grasse), devises a plan to help him restore his memory. Her family hires Craig to pursue a pair of supposed Russian thieves after the Ames jewels. The doctor, however, has plans to steal the jewels and wants Virginia for himself. An aerial chase ending with a tailspin and crash brings Craig back to his senses. He is able to thwart the doctor's schemes and finally remembers his girlfriend.Acteurs

Ace test pilot Bradley Farrell (Richard Arlen), flying for McMasters Aviation Corp., breaks his leg when an overweight prototype crashes. Brad's younger brother Douglas (Don Castle), a recent graduate in aeronautical engineering thinks Doug's flying is too dangerous, and is hired as a design engineer at McMasters. Carol Blake (Jean Parker) wants to interest Brad in her father's design for an aircraft made of plastic. Peu avant 1870, en pleine guerre de Sécession, deux compagnies ferroviaires rivales tentent, par tous les moyens, la construction de la ligne de chemin de fer qui traversera les États-Unis d'Est en Ouest, reliant l'océan Atlantique à l'océan Pacifique. La première, l’Union Pacific part de l’Atlantique. Le train de cette compagnie est conduit par Monahan aidé par sa fille Mollie qui s’occupe de l’intendance. Jeff Butler, agent du gouvernement, assure l’ordre et la protection du convoi. Le deuxième projet, le Central Pacific, est soutenu par un politicien véreux Barrows qui utilise tous les procédés pour retarder l’Union Pacific afin d’effectuer la plus grande portion de ligne de chemin de fer. Un sabotage sur l’Union Pacific met en cause Dick Allen un ami de longue date de Jeff Butler. Leur amitié va être mise à rude épreuve leurs intérêts étant contraires, ils sont de plus tous deux amoureux de Mollie. Après bien des péripéties (sabotages, vol de la paye des ouvriers, attaque d’indiens, bagarres…), Dick meurt tué par Campeau, le principal artisan des sabotages, au cours d’un ultime guet-apens. Le dernier tronçon de voie enfin posé, Jeff et Mollie vont pouvoir enfin s’avouer leur amour.

In 1925, pilot Larry Cassidy (Ormer Locklear) is flying air mail for the United States Postal Service. He faces a deadly foe, Chester Van Arland (Ray Ripley), the leader of the "Death's Head Squadron", intent on stealing a $20,000 shipment of gold that will be on a midnight flight to Washington. Van Arland has the medal air mail pilot Wallie Mason (Allan Forrest) was awarded for his war service in France and has kidnapped Mason's girlfriend, Beryl Caruthers (Francelia Billington). He offers to return the medal in return for inside information about the gold shipment. Cassidy, Mason's friend and fellow pilot, is able to stymie the gang's plans, using his aircraft to chase down Van Arland and rescue Mason's girlfriend.

Arizona inventor "Doc" Williams (Emmett Vogan)has invented a wireless remote control that can pilot an aircraft. Despite his efforts and those of his friend, pilot Jerry Barton (Forrest Tucker), they can not interest anyone in the invention. Barton has found a job as a test pilot for a millionaire named George Lambert (William Halligan) with his own aircraft company.
