Le film présente principalement les événements de la vie de Vivekananda de sa naissance à 1897, quand il retourne en Inde de l'Ouest. Le film commence avec la naissance de Narendranath Datta (nom pré-monastique de Swami Vivekananda) et montre l'entourage de la famille Datta célébrant l'événement. Puis, vient la scène où Narendranath voit son père Vishwanath Datta donner de l'argent, des vêtements et de la nourriture à des personnes pauvres et en détresse. Voyant cela, le jeune Narendranath demande à son père de lui donner aussi quelque chose et son père lui demande d'aller regarder dans le miroir et de trouver ce qu'il lui avait déjà donné. Suivant la suggestion de son père, Narendranath se rend dans la pièce et voit sa propre image.

The story revolves around police officer Agnishwar Rai (Mithun Chakraborty), who keeps getting transferred due to his aggressive nature towards criminals. He ends up at Utarpara police where young boy Surja Sinha (Jeet) is the local tough guy. A girl is raped by the younger brother,Ranjit Saha (Bharat Kaul), of the local MLA named Joy Chand Saha (Rajatava Dutta). Agnishwar arrests Ranjit. To take revenge, the MLA gets Agnishwar put in prison and his wife Deboshree Roy murdered. There starts Agnishwar's revenge where he slowly kills all the persons responsible for putting him behind bars and killing his wife, ending with the death of the MLA and himself at the hands of Surja, who became a police officer.

Sarojini (Aparna Sen) is a well-known danseuse, whose immense dedication to her art permeates every aspect of her life. While honor and acclaim make way into her professional life she is less successful on the domestic front. Her growing popularity leads to her husband Manish's (Boddhiswatta Majumdar) gradual resentment towards her and ultimately a rift between the couple. Manish takes over the upbringing of their only daughter, Aditi, as Sarojini remains busy with her artistic commitments.
