Le film présente principalement les événements de la vie de Vivekananda de sa naissance à 1897, quand il retourne en Inde de l'Ouest. Le film commence avec la naissance de Narendranath Datta (nom pré-monastique de Swami Vivekananda) et montre l'entourage de la famille Datta célébrant l'événement. Puis, vient la scène où Narendranath voit son père Vishwanath Datta donner de l'argent, des vêtements et de la nourriture à des personnes pauvres et en détresse. Balwant Roy (Pradeep Kumar) is a big industrialist. His daughter Uma (Neena Gupta) is married to Sunderlal's (Prem Chopra's) elder son Raghuveer (Shakti Kapoor). Sunderlal is the managing director of Roy Group of Industries. Balwant Roy's only son, Amar—nickname Munna (Prosenjit) loves his sister very much. Sunderlal is a greedy character whose intends to hush up the property of Balwant Roy and kill Munna. He plots a conspiracy to finish off Munna. But a village boy, Mangal (Sunny Deol) saves Munna's life. Now both are living together and Mangal's mother (Seema Deo) feels happy because they love her very much. Ram Kumar (Govinda) lives a wealthy lifestyle in Calcutta with his brother, Prashant (Shatrughan Sinha) and Parvati (Moushumi Chatterjee), his sister-in-law. Since his school-days he had befriended a young orphan named Laxman (Kunal Goswami), who also lives with them. Years later, Ram and Laxman have grown up, and Laxman joins the Police Force. Impressed with Laxman's dedication and diligence, the Police Commissioner assigns him to take down the crime empire of a notorious underworld don called Cobra. Laxman is killed trying to arrest Cobra and Ram swears to avenge Laxman's death, and sets forth to seek Cobra. It is then Ram finds out that the man called Cobra may be Prashant himself. A series of double cross and deceit leads to a plot much more sinister than what Ram could have ever imagined.
