An absent minded Professor Downie makes a call upon Drummond as he is making plans for his much-delayed wedding to fiancee Phyllis Claverling. The professor informs Drummond that a fortune was buried in one of the walled off storerooms underneath his estate, and that Downie was in possession of a book written in code that would lead them to discover the treasure. Unfortunately for the professor, someone else also wanted the riches and Drummond once again is dragged into the plot as the code book is stolen, Professor Downie is murdered, and Phyllis is kidnapped.

Clive) in tow, Bulldog outwits Scotland Yard's bureaucratic blundering, flies his own plane 1200 miles only to find more bureaucratic blundering by the local British Consul ordering him home without delay. Drummond isn't an easy man to get rid of however and soon mounts a rescue plan, liberating the Commander, saving the Empire and throwing the villain to his own captive lions in the process.

Un jeune couple en Haïti, Neil Parker (John Harron) et Madeleine Short (Madge Bellamy), est invité par une connaissance, Charles Beaumont (Robert Frazer), à venir dans sa plantation pour leur mariage. Mais Beaumont est amoureux de Madeleine et espère pouvoir la persuader de l'épouser lui plutôt que Neil. Repoussé, il s'adresse à un maître vaudou blanc, Legendre (Béla Lugosi), pour qu'il fasse d'elle un zombie de manière temporaire. Il compte ainsi renvoyer Neil aux États-Unis pour qu'il y fasse son deuil, avant de la ramener à la vie pour réitérer sa demande. C'est sans compter sur Legendre qui a ses propres intentions concernant Beaumont et la jeune femme. Celle-ci est finalement sauvée de son état de zombie par son fidèle fiancé et un missionnaire, le docteur Bruner (Joseph Cawthorn).
