The story starts when Soloman(Dileep) and his sister travel to kannadahalli to meet two retired teachers. He reaches the house on top of a hill-'Swargam' where he finds two old women who live alone with a cook and a home nurse to look after them. Alice (Sharada) and Anna (Bharati) are sisters who are spinsters and they own the huge estate. The home nurse, Sophiya (Navya Nair), cook (Sukumari), cook's son (Cochin Haneefa) and the priest (Nedumudi Venu) are the only people close to them. Soloman takes charge as the manager of the estate and soon wins over the two oldies.

Madhavan (Dileep) is a clever thief who does robbery for a living. He is following the principles of his mentor Mullani Pappan (Mala Aravindan). Josekutty (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is a hard-working auto rickshaw driver from a good family. Josekutty falls in love with Jansi, whose sister Nancy is an unwed mother of a boy. Jayadeva Sharma hails from an aristocratic Brahmin family. However his family's fortunes disappears and he is fostered by a goldsmith. Eventually he is betrayed by Ananthapadmanabhan, a man who he thinks is Athira's boy friend. To get his money back, he disguises as a sage with the help of his friends Premadasan and gets into the house of Athira's grand father, Kunnamanagalam Neelakantan Vaidyar as a guest. Jayadevan's and Athira's friendship blooms after he saves her from Balagopalan, who is a cousin of her. Premadasan end up falling in love with Vasumathi who is also a cousin of Athira. Near the climax on Athira's wedding day, Jayadevan is held hostage by Ananthapadmanabhan and is saved by Premadasan. At the end Athira's fiancé is caught and Athira and Jayadevan unites.
