Salim Khan (Hindi: सलीम खान, Urdu: سلیم خان; born 24 November 1935) is an Indian actor and screenwriter. In Hindi cinema, Khan is best known for being one half of the prolific screenwriting duo of Salim-Javed. He is the father of Bollywood actors Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan. He has two wives, Sushila Charak (Salma Khan) and actress Helen.
Khan was born in Indore in the Central Provinces and Berar (modern day Madhya Pradesh) during British rule. His ancestors are of the Alakozai Pashtun tribe who immigrated from Afghanistan to Madhya Pradesh over 150 years ago. His father was a police officer, while his mother had died when he was still young. In 1964, he married Sushila Charak , a Maharashtrian. Sushila Charak later converted to Islam and adopted the name 'Salma Khan'. Salma's father Baldev Singh Charak was from Jammu. Salim and Salma have four children together: Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and their daugther Alvira Khan Agnihotri . In 1981, Salim married the actress Helen. They adopted a daughter named Arpita, a daughter of a homeless woman who died on a Mumbai footpath.

The story, based on an idea from Salman Khan, centres on Saajan, the son of a colonel in the Indian army, and Kaajal, a modest girl from "a respectable family." The film opens with Saajan travelling in a bus, when he catches a glimpse of Kaajal on another bus, and they are both smitten. They do not formally meet and, since Saajan is off to start at college, he does not think he will ever see her again. But his new friends at college, Buddha, Tempo and Refill, one night insist on visiting a brothel in a seedier part of Bombay. Saajan only reluctantly agrees, but ultimately refuses to select a prostitute — until he hears a new girl being beaten by her pimp and decides to protect her. To his surprise, it is Kaajal (called Paro at the brothel), who has been kidnapped by a pimp after she was tricked by a job offer in Bombay.

Young Vijay lives in an orphanage after being separated from his widowed mother, Laxmi. Nasik-based Heerendra Dhaan (Ajay Devgan) and Raj Ranade (Prashant Raj Sachdev) are bodyguards of a politician but, after their employer is implicated in a scam, they end up assaulting a police officer and flee to Mumbai. Once there they meet with Rambhabhai (Rajpal Yadav), who in turn, gets them employed with a gangster named Shambhu. After a short while the duo are apprehended by Police Inspector Narsimha, questioned, and after they agree to cooperate to bring down Shambhu, are let go. Don (Shahrukh Khan) est le chef d'un gang international réputé insaisissable basé à Kuala Lumpur.
