Samir Chanda (1957 – August 18, 2011) was an Indian art director and production designer across Indian cinema, including Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam and Tamil, most known for his work in films like Yodha (1992), Dil Se.. (1998), Guru (2007), Omkara (2006), Rang De Basanti (2006), and Raavan (2010).
He also directed a Bengali film, Ek Nadir Galpo (Tale of A River) (2008) starring Mithun Chakraborty. It was Indian entries for the Asian, African and Latin American Competition segment of the 38th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), in Goa He was awarded the National Film Award for Best Art Direction four times, including Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero (2005) directed by Shyam Benegal.

À l'occasion du 50e anniversaire de l'indépendance de l'Inde, Amarkanth Varma (Shahrukh Khan), journaliste d'All India Radio, est envoyé dans les territoires frontaliers pour interroger les populations locales sur l’évolution de leurs conditions de vie. Pendant son trajet, il fait la connaissance d’une femme mystérieuse qui dit s'appeler Meghna (Manisha Koirala). Le temps d'un voyage au Ladakh, en compagnie d'exilés, ils se perdent de vue. Amar décide de rentrer à New Delhi où il s'apprête à épouser Preeti Nair (Preity Zinta), jeune femme moderne et délurée choisie par sa famille. Quand Meghna resurgit, Amar sent qu'elle porte un lourd secret qui l'empêche de l'aimer comme il l'aime. En effet, Meghna a une mission à accomplir : elle fait partie d’un groupe de terroristes et prépare un attentat à Delhi. Habitée par sa mission, elle est également attirée par une autre vie, par l'envie d'être une jeune femme amoureuse. Amar découvre enfin son secret et cherche à empêcher le pire. La course contre la montre commence.

La très belle et très attirante Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes (Priyanka Chopra) épouse tout d'abord le major Edwin Rodriques (Neil Nitin Mukesh) qui porte si bien l'uniforme puis, très rapidement, elle se marie avec le beau Jimmy à la si belle voix. À ce chanteur succèdent un poète, Musafir (Irrfan Khan) puis un Russe, Nicolai Vronsky (Aleksandr Dyachenko), qui ne survivent pas plus que leurs prédécesseurs. Tous ces veuvages finissent par attirer l'attention de la police et tout spécialement celle du très prévenant inspecteur Keemat Lal (Annu Kapoor) qui décède malencontreusement. Ces deuils répétés affectent douloureusement Susanna qui, fort heureusement pour elle et malheureusement pour lui, est secourue par l'excellent docteur Modhusudhon Tarafdar (Naseeruddin Shah). La liste des victimes s'allonge.

Rabindranath Tagore’s elder brother Jyotirindranath Tagore, a Western educated bright young man from the 19th century Bengal met the octogenarian Lalan Fakir and drew a portrait of the poet saint in the former houseboat afloat on the Padma river. Jyotirindranath, an urban intellectual exchange views with the man of native wisdom. Their exchange of ideas forms the cinematic narrative of this film. The narrative is a saga of the life and time of Lalan Fakir and his liberal sect who lived a life of high order in an otherwise superstitious 19th century Indian society. Lalan inherited the best of the liberal and enlightened tradition of Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam to develop a philosophy of life which is extremely secular and tolerant. Thus became an easy prey for the fundamentalists from the Hindu and the Muslim institutions. They were the parallel stream flowing freely in the heart of rural Bengal when men like Tagore were germinating ideas of the Bengal Renaissance. The love and compassion of Lalan is relevant more than ever in today’s world of intolerance and hate.

Charlie gagne sa vie en pariant sur les courses de chevaux. Il se mêle aux personnes riches et célèbres du milieu hippique. Pour lui c'est une façon de se faire de l'argent rapidement et son rêve est de devenir bookmaker. Charlie est débrouillard, futé et courageux (mais uniquement pour lui-même).

Animesh Mitra is simpleton who arrives at Calcutta from Jalpaiguri, during hostile times (1967), to study at the Scottish Church College. The story revolves around two people who miss the last local train at 1:40 am and how it changes the course of their lives forever. The protagonist Nilesh (Abhay Deol) works in a call centre firm cultivated by the IT industry. Night shifts, booze, after office parties seem to be the order of the day. When Nilesh misses his last train from Kurla to Vikroli, he is rudely shoved off by a police constable who wants to keep the station clean from anti-social elements. Nowhere to go, he strolls outside for an auto-rickshaw, where he bumps into a beautiful damsel in distress, Madhu (Neha Dhupia), also wanting a ride to Vikhroli. As it turns out, the rickshaws are on strike due to a bomb blast earlier in the day. Nilesh and Madhu are forced to walk to the next rickshaw stand.
