Mehboob Studio is an Indian film studio and recording studio in Bandra (W), Mumbai, founded by director and producer Mehboob Khan in 1954 who owned Mehboob Productions and is most known for films like Mother India (1957), which won the Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Director and was a nominee for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It is spread over 20,000 square yards and includes five shooting stages. It soon become popular with directors like Guru Dutt, Chetan Anand and Dev Anand. In following decades it was used by Manmohan Desai extensively. A recording studio was added in the 1970s and both remain in use.
The studio was used from November 2010 to January 2011 for the first-ever exhibition of sculptor Anish Kapoor in India; the other part was held at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
Three friends – Meet (Vivek Oberoi), Prem (Aftab Shivdasani) and Amar (Ritesh Deshmukh) – are married and don't like their wives. Meet thinks his wife Unatti (Karishma Tanna) is having an affair with her boss, Prem doesn't like it when his wife Tulsi (Manjari Fadnis) doesn't spend quality time with him and Amar hates his marital life because his wife Mamta (Sonalee Kulkarni) is more concerned about their son, Pappu.
The movie begins with a dead body of a TV journalist, Nadia Merchant, being found in a remote area, somewhere in Germany. Soon after, Indian singer Himesh Reshammiya (HR) is arrested after a concert for murdering the journalist. HR is put behind bars and the incidents begin to unravel as the movie goes into a flashback. While on a concert in Germany, performing with his best friend Shravan, HR meets the event organiser Khurana (Darshan Jariwala) and his partner Ruby (Mallika Sherawat). He also meets the event planner Ria (Hansika Motwani), and it's love at first sight. After initial reservations, Ria's father (Sachin Khedekar) approves of the match.
Dev Kumar Verma comes from a middle-class family and must find employment to support his parents. Dev, however, has set his mind upon becoming a music sensation like Elvis Presley.
Shankar (Sunil Dutt) is an educated young man who is employed in the construction business by Ratanlal (Anwar Hussain). Shankar is also the union leader, and would like Ratanlal to enforce measures for workers' safety. Before he could ensure this, Shankar is accidentally killed in a work-related accident, leaving behind his wife, Parvati (Raakhee) and young son, Rakesh (Sanjay Dutt). Rakesh is in trauma because of an incident, and this trauma is repeated in his mind every time his mother comes near him. Parvati is instructed to keep away from Rakesh, and Rakesh is adopted by Robert (Amjad Khan) and his wife, Kathy (Aruna Irani) and they rename him Rocky.
Maharani Meenakshi is a princess who one day while out hunting is rescued from a handful of attackers by a hunter-warrior Jwala Singh (Pran) who lives alone in the jungle, accompanied only by his pet falcon, Sheroo.
J.K. (played by Sanjeev Kumar) is a Hotel manager. One day he gallantly comes to the rescue of a politician's drunk daughter, Aarti (Suchitra Sen). Aarti falls in love with J.K. and both get married in a small ceremony. After few years, the married couple face many differences due to which they decide to separate. Years later, J.K. and Aarti meet again when she is an established politician. Despite the separation, both of them feel the closeness but fearing that her name might be tarnished and jeopardise her career, Aarti does not want to step forward.
Handsome and fairly good-looking Anil Kumar is employed with Natwarlal, who is a criminal gangster. Natwarlal asks Anil to find employment with Shailendra Singh, and after doing so, seduce his beautiful young daughter, Neetu Singh, marry her, and thus get himself a stake in their property and wealth. Anil agrees to do so, and does
Professor Sukesh Dutt (Vijay Anand) and Archana Gupta (Jaya Bhaduri) meet each other in a chance encounter while traveling by BEST bus service in Mumbai. Their meeting again results in formal introduction to each other. Both get attracted to each other and get married. Archana's mother does not like Sukesh due to his modest income. She makes up stories about their affluence, which offends Sukesh. This results in acrimony between Archana and Sukesh, and they decide to separate. Archana goes to live with her parents, while Sukesh relocates. Archana's family asks her to forget Sukesh, and remarry, which Archana finds difficult since she still has feelings for Sukesh.
Havaldar Ratan is a rookie at the local police station, and is assigned duty on foot patrol on Manoranjan Street, a notorious red-light area, on the very first day of his job. He strikes up a conversation with a good-looking young woman named Nisha, and tells her that there is a possible violation of Suppression of Immoral Trafficking Act taking place on this street. He witnesses several women soliciting men, and decides to call in the paddy wagon, and get them arrested. Alas, one of the men frequenting the prostitutes is none other than Ratan's superior officer, who immediately summons Ratan, and has him removed from service on corruption charges. Nisha takes pity on a homeless and unemployed Ratan, and asks him to live with her. He does not want her to sell her body, and so he decides to work at night, and during the day he takes on the guise of a rich Nawab and spends time with her. Things go along smoothly, until Ratan decides that it is now time to get rid of the "Nawab", and he does so, only to find out that the police have been informed that he has killed the Nawab, and they are out to arrest him. What follows is hilarious chaos that will change Ratan and Nisha's lives forever.
Mohan and Sohan are the sons of a police inspector. The kids excel in boxing. Their father is killed by a goon following orders from Ranjit (Premnath). Mohan (Pran) kills the goon, takes refuge in a car boot, and goes missing.
Rajkumar Shamsher Singh is the only son of the local Maharaja, and has been brought up as a brat, and now he is an irresponsible, alcoholic, and womanizing adult, who wants everyone to bow down before him and his princely rank. One priest refuses to do so, and Shamsher pummels him mercilessly, in vain though. Frustrated, he asks the priest what he should do with his mundane life, and the priest tells him that he should repent, sacrifice all his palatial pleasures, and live the life of a simple and ordinary man, and hence learn the true meaning of life, for at least six months. Shamsher agrees to do so, and arranges an accident with his car, which plummets down a mountain, explodes and is blown to smithereens. Everyone in the palace believes that Shamsher is dead. He goes to a nearby village, and a blind woman there mistakes him for her long-lost son and starts calling him Sajjan Singh. Shamsher decides to play along as Sajjan.
Raj Kumar (Rajendra Kumar) dreams of a life of prosperity. When he learns that his mother (Sulochana Latkar) has struggled for years to create that solid standard of living it, he walks into action and takes a job at Ranjit Rai's (Balraj Sahni). There he earns the trust of the Chief rapidly and rises. On a vacation with his friend Lachchu (O. P. Ralhan), he falls in love with the village beauty Gauri (Sharmila Tagore) and promises her father (D.K. Sapru)that he will marry. He promises to return in a month to marry Gauri - but before Lachcu should be brought Rita's (Helen) Raj Kumar married and mother to the wedding. However, complications arise: Lachchu to be married to a chubby woman (Tun Tun), while Raj Kumar of the rich Madhu (Sharmila Tagore) is ensnared. Not only does she look like Gauri, but is also the daughter of Boss Rai.
Vikram Singh is the Maharaja of Pratap Nagar and is very impressed with his Senapati Sangram Singh for years of loyal service. He decides to make him a Maharaja and agrees to marry his daughter, Anuradha, with his son, Pratap. Years later, Vikram sends his now grown-up Anuradha to visit the coronation of Rajkumar Pratap Singh and approve of him as her husband, and she sets off without any escort with just her maid-servant, Kalavati, for company. Shortly thereafter, Vikram is informed that Kalavati has been abducted by a bandit named Suraj Singh, he accordingly rushes over to Sangram's and this is where he discovers to his shock that Kalavati is posing as Anuradha, and it is his daughter that has been abducted by Suraj. When Suraj is arrested and lodged in a dungeon, preparations are set forth for the coronation of Pratap and his subsequently marriage with Anuradha.
