Synopsis
Ummu Kholzu (Shobhana) is married to Kamarudeen (Mammootty), whose both hands are paralyzed. Ummu, hailing from a poor background had to marry him, hailing from a rich and aristocrat family against her wishes. She was in love with Razzak (Lalu Alex), her neighbor, but her father (Thilakan)objected to their relationship and made her married to Kamarudeen. After the marriage, she had to undergo severe mental torture and insults from both her father in law and sister in law. Fed up after seeing her sufferings, Kamarudeen leaves his house along with her and shifts to her house. At her house, Kamar discovers Ummu's past affair with Razak and becomes suspicious. In the mean time, Razak's wife dies of an accident. Kamar realizes his mistake and decides to save Ummu's life as he believes that Razzak is more suitable for her. Kamar giver her talaq and shifts to his house. There his father asks him to take back Ummu along with him. But Razzak and Ummu gets engaged. Ummu was ready to accept Razzak this time as for her Kamar is her husband. She leaves her home on the day of marriage and commits suicide. Kamar seeing her jumbing from a cliff to the waterfalls also slips and fell inside while saving her.Acteurs

The story unfolds as Unnikrishnan (Mammootty), a convict, now free from the jail tells his tragic love story to his fellow passengers in a school bus. An orphan and a forest officer by profession, he falls in love with a local girl, Thulasi, during his stay at a forest area. They decided to get married and he sets off to inform his marriage to his best friend. On his way back the police arrests him as a suspected criminal, who has some visible similarities of Unnikrishnan. There he accidentally kills a police man and gets life imprisonment. During his early days at jail, he writes a letter to Thulasi asking to forget him. When his prison term was about to complete, he wrote a letter to light a lamp if she still waits for him. After long years of torments in the jail he goes to meet Thulasi, and does she still waits for him? That's the question of his fellow passengers too.

Viswanathan, a famous director, is haunted by the death of his wife and a young man whom he accidentally hit while driving. Later he meets Shyama, the daughter of his friend, still struggling with the death of her boyfriend, the man whom Viswanathan had killed. They fall in love but Viswanatan tries to avoid her. The movie starts with Rahman (Sreenivasan) going to Kolkata in search of Nandakumar Varma (Mammootty). He finally finds Nandakumar in a depressed state. Rahman compels him to return home. A deaf and mute boy (Baby Sujitha) witnesses his widowed mother being murdered by two men. Later, he escapes from them.
