Aag Ka Dariya (English: River of Fire) is 1953 Hindi language black-and-white film directed by Roop K. Shorey and starring Karan Dewan, Prithviraj Kapoor, Meena Shorey, Shammi, Uma Dutt, Johnny Walker, Manju, Cecil. Playback singer for this movie was Talat Mehmood. Produced by Shorey Films, it had music by music composer Vinod.

Aag ka Dariya is a melodramatic love story, where the lovers separate due to the machinations of a villain. They keep crossing each other's paths, eventually meeting when the final drama plays out.

Thakur (Prithviraj Kapoor), his wife (Mumtaz Begum) and daughter Chanda (Jayshree) live in a big old-style house. Though he has this ancestral property, Thakur is not wealthy and he makes this clear to lawyer Biharilal (Ulhas) and his wife (Lalita Pawar) when they ask for Chanda's hand in marriage. He tells them that he can not give a dowry as tradition demands. The lawyer says he does not want a dowry for his son Suraj (Karan Dewan) and are happy having Chanda in their house. He has said this thinking that Thakur is rich and would anyway give a dowry. Soon after the marriage, the lawyer dies and Chanda's blamed by her mother-in-law for bringing bad luck. She plans to throw Chanda out of the house and get Suraj remarried. Meanwhile, seeing the suffering his daughter has to endure Thakur decides to sell his entire property and get a big dowry for Chanda. He proceeds to bring the dowry to Chanda's house with big fanfare. Suraj lies hurt following an accident and Chanda's mother-in-law refuses to let Chanda look after him. In the melee, Chanda also gets hurt when the door she's standing against is broken down. Suraj hearing the commotion gets out of his bed and collapses dead. Thakur reaches the house only to have Chanda die in his arms.

L'histoire se situe au XVI siècle dans l'Empire moghol. Envoyé sur le champ de bataille pour affermir son caractère, le prince héritier Salim, revient au palais impérial auréolé de quatorze années de guerres victorieuses. Accueilli avec fierté par son père, l'empereur Akbar, et avec amour par sa mère, la reine Jodhaa Bai, il retrouve avec plaisir la douceur de la cour. Il y tombe follement amoureux de la danseuse Anarkali dont il veut faire sa femme. Soucieux des intérêts de l'empire, Akbar rejette violemment cette mésalliance, emprisonne la jeune femme et la condamne à mort. Le prince s'oppose alors à son père, lui contestant le droit de régir ses sentiments comme il le fait du pays. Il fait évader Anarkali, la cache et se rebelle, entraînant une partie de l'armée avec lui. L'affrontement se solde par la victoire d'Akbar qui se résout à faire exécuter son fils unique. Anarkali se livre alors à l'empereur pour sauver l'homme qu'elle aime.

Mirza Yusuf Changezi (Bharat Bhushan) and Jahan Ara (Mala Sinha) have been good friends since childhood. Things are not quite the same as they grow up, as Jahan Ara's father is none other than Emperor Shah Jahan, and men are not permitted to meet with the princess under any circumstances. However, Jahan and Mirza do meet secretly and promise to marry each other. Misfortune visits the emperor, when his wife, Mumtaz Mahal (Achala Sachdev), passes away. The emperor gets deeply devastated, and, still mourning his wife's death, he pledges to build a memorial in her name (which would subsequently be called Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders on Earth). At her deathbed, Mumtaz makes Jahan promise that she will take care of her father, which she promises to do. This responsibility makes her sacrifice her love for Mirza, who is heartbroken and continues to believe that Jahan will sooner or later reunite with him.

The Maharaja is eager to see his foreign-returned son, Bhanu Pratap who will eventually take over the reins of the region. Beena works as a stage actress and lives a poor lifestyle with her widowed mother. One day while returning home she is molested by Bankhe and two other men, but Rajan comes to her rescue. He escorts her home and soon both of them fall in love with each other. Rajan's dad, Rai Bahadur Gangasaran, is wealthy and does not approve of Beena at all. But when Rajan threatens to leave him, he changes his mind and permits them to get married. After the marriage they settle down to a harmonious life and soon Beena becomes pregnant. One night while driving, Rajan gets a flat tire, he leaves Beena in the car in order to get help. When he returns Beena has disappeared. She returns home the next day, and everyone is relieved to have her back. A few days later they get the news that Gopal, the Manager of the Theatre that Beena used to work with, has been arrested and charged with killing a man named Ratanlal. Gangasaran is on the jury and would like Gopal to get a fair trial. The police find out that a woman was present with Gopal at the night of the murder, but Gopal refuses to divulge her name. As a result of this refusal, he is found guilty. When the sentence is about to be passed, Beena suddenly appears in Court and testifies that she was with Gopal the night of the murder. Gopal is set free, but Beena is shunned by Rajan and Gangasaran and not only driven out of the house, but also from the town.

Soon, Sapna learns that Gopal's real name is Deepak, who was previously accused of murdering his first wife. Gopal's ever changing behavior throws everyone into suspicion and Sapna fears she will be his next victim.
