Chithirai Pookkal is a 1991 Tamil romance film directed by Kanmani Subbu. The film features newcomers Jayanthkumar and Vinodhini in the lead roles, with R. Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Charle, S. S. Chandran and Vinu Chakravarthy playing supporting roles. The film had musical score by M. S. Murali and was released on 23 February 1991.
Synopsis
Hari (Jayanthkumar) and his parents (Vinu Chakravarthy and Vaani) as well as Bharathi (Vinodhini) and her parents (S. S. Chandran and Kovai Sarala) settle for the holidays in the same hotel in Ooty. Hari and Bharathi gets into several quarrels until they fall in love with each other. Their parents have come to know their love affair and refuse to unite them. Later, the lovers elope and they try to commit suicide. Johnson David (R. Sarathkumar), a retired military officer, saves them at time and he accommodates the young lovers. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.Acteurs

Teja (Kalabhavan Mani) is a high-profile gangster in North Madras, who often imitates the behaviour characteristic of different animals for sarcastic effect. Accompanied by his gang, he arrives at a magistrate's court for a hearing. His animal antics are mocked at by "Chintai" Jeeva, another accused. Teja and his gang retaliate and kill Jeeva within the court premises. Jeeva was a member of a rival gang headed by Gemini (Vikram), an aspiring goon from Chintadripet who aspires to dethrone Teja and take his place. To avenge Jeeva's death, Gemini hunts down the murderer Pandian while Isaac, one of Gemini's men, kills him. This incident leads to a feud between Gemini and Teja, and a fight for supremacy ensues. Pandian's mother Annamma (Manorama), a destitute woman, locates the whereabouts of her son's murderers. She approaches Gemini, becomes the gang's cook and awaits a chance to poison them.

Karmegham (Mammootty) returns to his village after serving in the army for long. He finds that the villagers still live the shackles of old customs and traditions. His sister and mother die in a bomb blast planned by Karmegham's father. Karmegham kills his father to save at least his village.
