Synopsis

Billy et son frère Kid vivent avec leur mère sur une exploitation agricole en déliquescence. Le jour où ils partent vivre chez leur oncle et leur tante, le monde de Kid s’écroule : la seule personne auprès de qui il souhaite passer du temps, sa mère, n’est plus là. Mais comment la rejoindre ? Comme dans ses précédents films, Fien Troch se penche sur une enfance meurtrie, une famille dévastée, plongée dans le silence. Telle un peintre de retables flamands, la réalisatrice multiplie les plans larges sur les paysages de campagne et transforme ainsi les hommes en éléments d’une nature morte, impuissants et découragés. Les personnages bougent à peine, parlent peu ou se murent dans un silence de plomb. Une fresque intense, pénétrante et envoûtante.

Quand quelque chose de terrible se passe dans une famille, le silence est souvent la seule réaction. Ce film nous montre avec quelle profondeur peut résonner ce qui est presque invisible.

Archana (Sridevi) plays the role of popular singer, and Johnny (Rajinikanth) is her ardent fan. Knowing about his look alike Johnny and knowing that he is wanted by the police, he tries to pass on the murder charge to him. Both of them are chased by police, Johnny hides in a forest, barber Rajini tries to pass of as Johnny by taking refuge in Archanas house. Archana gets hurt by the curt behavior of barber Rajini (in the guise of Johnny) and she is confused on the same. Finally, the barber Rajini realises his folly and unites the lovers by getting caught in the police, taking responsibility of Johnny's crimes included.

Meng Hu (Don Wong) and Capt. Chow Lung (Lo Lieh) are local supercops who are cracking down on crime with a vengeance. That is, until several fighters get the drop on Chow who ends up dead. Meng blames himself and retires from crime fighting to become a pathetic drunk, drowning in shame. He finds work at a brothel for a time, until a patron's abuse of one of the girls causes him to interfere despite his refusal to fight. After being wounded, he stumbles to the doorstep of a martial arts school run by Magistrate Chen (Chui Chung Hei). Hoping to stay away from conflict, Meng finds work there, but trouble finds him anyway. A white-haired master named Chung Tung (Chang Yi) tries to bribe Chen into letting opium smugglers into the city. Chen refuses and has acupuncture needles thrust into him that will kill him unless removed by Chung Tung who hopes to control the magistrate. Pushed to the limit, Meng finally comes up with a plan to help beat Chung Tung and save Chen. Sadly, Chen believes his son and daughter are giving into Chung Tung and he removes the needles himself. With nothing holding them back, Meng and Chen's offspring leap into action to take out this pack of drug pushers.
