Kamal Haasan plays a double role as an honest doctor and a happy go lucky youth. He was paired with Jayasudha and Roja Ramani. The film was well supported by Prabhakar Reddy, Sarathi, Pandari Bai, Kanta Rao, Ramaprabha and C. S. Rao. This was the first film of Singeetam Srinivasa Rao and Kamal Haasan together. The film was remade into Hindi as Hum Dono.
Synopsis
Sommokadidi Sokokadidi is the story of a well respected Doctor and his look alike, who identifies that his face is similar to that of Doctor. So he plots a plan to take the Doctors place when he is away from Hospital, but later he discovers that even the Doctor is having several problems of his own...Acteurs

A rich industrialist, Venugopal(R.N. Krishna) marries a woman, Sushila(Jayabharathi) and they have quadruplets. His brother, Nandagopal(R.N. The story is about three different women who work at a fashion export company. Janaki (Urvashi) is a typist who lives with her husband and her baby to earn for a living as her husband lost his job in a factory. Pappamma (Rohini) is a house keeper who lives with her drunkard rickshaw pulling husband and earns for both their living and her husband's drinking expense. Ahalya pleads and coaxes him to help her get the ransom which Rao is willing to pay. The child takes a fancy to Avinasi and wants him to be the man in their life, and gets him to agree.Ahalaya wants either Rao’s or Mehta'a money which Avinasi is holding, whereas Avinasi is in love and wants to be that protective person. Rao appoints Mehta to handle the ransom and what follows is a series of mix-ups.

Sethupathy (Kamal Haasan) is an honest and upright police officer. When he arrests four bigwigs Dharmaraj (Nagesh), Francis Anbarasu (Delhi Ganesh), Nallasivam (Nasser) and Satyamoorthy (Jaishankar), they escape justice easily and return to take revenge. They kill him and poison his wife (Srividya). She escapes and gives birth to twins with the help of another woman Muniyamma (Manorama) but the babies are separated and each woman believes that the other is dead because of the events happening next to birth. One of the twins, Raja (Kamal Haasan) grows up as a mechanic with Muniyamma, while the other twin, Appu (Kamal Haasan), a dwarf, grows up in the circus with his mother.
