Chakravarthi born as Kommineni Apparao, was an Indian music director in the South Indian film industry. He scored music for 960 movies, in 1989 a total 95 films were released in Telugu cinema, in that, the music for 66 of those films was composed by Chakravarthi.

Kalyan (Srikanth) spends his time dreaming of marriage. On a bus ride to Pattiseema (Godavari Zilla) to take up a promotion as a bank manager, he is involved in an accident loses his eyesight. The scene shifts to three months later when he recovers he goes back to Pattiseema with his friend Ramesh (Rajendra Prasad). Meghamala (Soundarya), living in the house opposite his, showers affection on him, giving him coffee, providing him with hot water, etc. But when he visits with his parents, to talk about marriage, she rejects him revealing the real reason behind her attachment to Kalyan, she tells him of her ill-fated love affair with Srinivas (Nagarjuna Akkineni) who died in same accident and his eyes are transplanted to Kalyan. Eager to send Kalyan on his way, Meghamala sends a letter to Kalyan's home on his name, accepting the latest girl Srilakshmi (Ravali) they picked for him and Kalyan returns home to find arrangements for his wedding in full swing, Meghamala also arrives to marriage but Kalyan's parents sends her away. Next day she sees Kalyan in the opposite house knowing that he cancelled the marriage, Ramesh married Srilakshmi. Finally, he says that "they live life long seeing to each other".

Raja (Venkatesh) and his friend Balu (Sudhakar) are petty thieves. One day they steal an idol of Lord Ganesha from a temple, while escaping from the police they hide in a house, Anjali (Soundarya) who is a governess in that house taking care of three children when remaining all went out of station. She locks them in her kitchen for one week, that one week association with Anjali changes the entire lifestyle of Raja, he starts a new life and slowly falls in love with Anjali. The film is the story of Anand (Kamal Haasan), a journalist and a martial arts expert. Anand is in love with Sripriya. He gets a micro film showing the wrongdoings of underworld king Sudarsan. Now the gang is after Anand for the micro film. Sudarsan's gang member Sathyapriya befriend Anand to get the micro film, but fails. Meantime Anand's love Sripriya leaves her house as her father Major Sundarrajan is against their affair. Sripriya get threatened by Sudarsan's gang for micro film. Anand's friend Y. G. Mahendran also get trapped by the underworld gang to retrieve the micro film. Anand had to fight against his martial arts master too, who is an aide of Sudarsan. Finally Anand succeeds in eliminating the entire gang saving micro film.

The film is set in the backdrop of lorry driver's union who are compelled to work under a power-hungry owner Ranganayakulu (Raja Krishna Murthy) and thereby becoming victims of exploitation. The owner acts like he helps our lorry drivers to become independent but frame them in smuggling and illegal cases. A fearless Lorry Driver Balamurali (Nandamuri Balakrishna) questions this exploitation and demands rights for the union. An IAS Officer, Collector Lalitha Devi (Sharada) and her husband SP Pradeep Kumar (Vijayakumar) also helps the Balamurali, in this regard Jayamma (Vijayashanti) is ideal as his female lead with mass oriented.

Chiranjeevi(Kalyan) is a ruthless rowdy and do gooder. Vijayashanti (Rekha) is the loving daughter of arrogant businesswoman Vanisri (Chamundeswari).
