Laxmikant–Pyarelal were a popular Indian composer duo, consisting of Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar (1937–1998) and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma (born 1940). They composed music for about 635 Hindi movies from 1963 to 1998, working for almost all notable filmmakers including Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, B.R. Chopra, Shakti Samanta, Manmohan Desai, Yash Chopra, Subhash Ghai and Manoj Kumar.

Chaudhary est un don qui règne sans partage sur son village d’Haryana. Une grande fête se prépare au château pour le mariage de sa fille ainée Renu. Paramvir Singh (Sunny Deol) is a Non-resident Indian (NRI) living happily with his Canadian wife Mary (Emma Brown Garett) along with his two kids Karam and Veer and his mother (Nafisa Ali) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Years ago, after the birth of Paramvir's younger brother Gajodhar, Paramvir's father, Dharam Singh (Dharmendra) had run away from home and took Gajodhar with him, due to difficulties with the family. Back in reality, a Canadian comes to visit Paramvir at his home, where he sees Dharam Singh's photo. The Canadian recognises Dharam as a thief who had robbed him when he went to tour in Banaras. Upon hearing this news, Paramvir's mother sends him to Banaras to find his father, and younger brother.

Jesu and Peter are childhood friends who live in a coastal village in India and depend on fishing as their livelihood. The community is oppressed by a powerful gangster named Alphonso. Jesu is an orphan, while Peter is brought up by his aunt and uncle, after the death of his mother. The community is all thrilled when Phillips finds black pearls off the coast. But then so does Alphonso, who asks his divers to get all the pearls, thus disturbing the ocean. Peter meets with Suzy D'Silva and they fall in love with each other, and get married. While enjoying a quiet swim on the sea-shore, Suzy disappears. A search is carried out, and a number of human body parts are recovered. With shock and horror, this community finds that their livelihood is being threatened by a gigantic, virtually indestructible man-eating shark.

The film begins with the murder of a politician committed by the terrorist Azhagam Perumal (Anandaraj). The corrupt finance minister Ponnurangam (Goundamani) wants to become the central minister therefore he orders Azhagam Perumal for money to create the chaos in Tamil Nadu. So Azhagam Perumal first sets off a bomb in a head office of Ponnurangam's opposite party. 22 people died during the bomb blast. Consequently, the Central Minister (Raadhika Sarathkumar) charges the Anti Terrorist Squad's Assistant Commissioner Suriya (R. Sarathkumar) to track down the terrorist group. Meanwhile, Suriya and Raji fall in love with each other. What transpires next forms the rest of the story.

After the death of his first wife, Mr. Verma remarries Durgadevi (Bindu), so that she can look after his son, Ravi (Jeetendra). Subsequently, Durga also gets pregnant and gives birth to a son Kiran. After few years as Mr. Verma passes away, Durga decides to enter into politics with the help of Sewakram (Prem Chopra). Ravi becomes the managing director of his firm and falls in love with a typist Usha (Madhuri Dixit). Durgadevi first disagrees with the marriage but finally agrees. After the marriage, Durga stands for election and wins to become the state's Chief Minister. Meanwhile Usha becomes pregnant. Ravi, for his business related work, has to travel abroad. Kiran tells his mother that he has had an affair with Usha before she married Ravi. Shocked with this Durgadevi decides to deal with this situation. Usha falls prey to Durgadevi, Kiran and Sewakram.

The film starts with the kidnapping of three nuclear scientists by Pralayanath Gendaswamy (Deepak Shirke) as he plans to build nuclear missiles for an invasion on India. Suryadev allies with hot-headed police Inspector Shivajirao Wagle (Nana Patekar) who spends a lot of time being suspended due to his temper. When Central Minister Jeevanlal Tandel who is an ally of Pralayanath Gendaswamy sets up a meeting with him to inform him about Suryadev Singh, Pralayanath Gendaswamy questions why is there information about his glory and not a single photograph of his face. At that moment Suryadev Singh enters the auditorium and reveals that he is the one whose face Pralayanath Gendaswamy was so eager to see.
