Brave New Land (Portuguese: Brava Gente Brasileira) is a 2000 Brazilian drama film written and directed by Lúcia Murat. The title comes from a line from the chorus refrain written by journalist Evaristo da Veiga for the Brazilian Independence Anthem. It depicts the conflicted relationship between Portuguese, Spanish and Indigenous in the 18th century.Synopsis
A la fin du XVIIIe siècle, Diogo Infante, astronome, naturaliste et cartographe portugais, est envoyé par la Couronne du Portugal dans la région centrale du Brésil, le Pantanal. En arrivant là-bas, il découvre les relations violentes et meurtrières qui déchirent Indiens et Portugais.
