Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye ('Bride is one who is liked by the groom') is a 1977 Hindi movie. Produced by Tarachand Barjatya for Rajshri, the film is directed by Lekh Tandon. The film stars Madan Puri, Prem Krishen, Rameshwari, Jagdeep and Iftekhar. It was a surprise hit of the year and gave Madan Puri his most satisfactory film role. The music is by Ravindra Jain.

Synopsis

Seth Harikrishan, the industrialist had as his heir, his only grandson Prem. The grandfather's only desire was to see the bride of his grandson. When he fell seriously ill, his friend and doctor Farid prevailed upon Prem to bring his girl friend Rita, whom he wanted to marry. But as luck would have it Rita had gone away to Srinagar to participate in a fashion show and she could not return as due to snowfall all roads were blocked and air service was suspended.

Rajkumar Shamsher Singh is the only son of the local Maharaja, and has been brought up as a brat, and now he is an irresponsible, alcoholic, and womanizing adult, who wants everyone to bow down before him and his princely rank. One priest refuses to do so, and Shamsher pummels him mercilessly, in vain though. Frustrated, he asks the priest what he should do with his mundane life, and the priest tells him that he should repent, sacrifice all his palatial pleasures, and live the life of a simple and ordinary man, and hence learn the true meaning of life, for at least six months. Shamsher agrees to do so, and arranges an accident with his car, which plummets down a mountain, explodes and is blown to smithereens. Everyone in the palace believes that Shamsher is dead. He goes to a nearby village, and a blind woman there mistakes him for her long-lost son and starts calling him Sajjan Singh. Shamsher decides to play along as Sajjan.

Shammi Kapoor plays Pritam, a young man who desperately needs a job to pay for his mother's tuberculosis treatment.
