As per director Prashant Nair his film uses flashes of comedy to shine a light on the uncomfortable realities of contemporary life in a country that has been transformed in many ways by two decades of economic growth. Synopsis
Jasper (Lee Williams) has arrived in Delhi to begin a tour of India, where the newness of his surroundings quickly prove overwhelming. As he is drawn into the dynamics of his host family, the Bhatias, he finds that his mere presence has upset the natural order of things. Jasper finds that the first day of his journey is possibly more than he bargained for.Acteurs

Khushi (Rani Mukerji) est une jeune femme rêveuse qui partage tous ses secrets avec son singe en peluche. Elle est également sans scrupule car elle ment à son patron pour ne pas aller travailler. Un jour, son patron découvre le subterfuge et Khushi perd aussitôt travail et logement. Elle fait ses valises et erre dans les rues avec Chacha (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) et Chachi (Shashikala), deux êtres démunis. Khushi rencontre alors Ranbir Malhotra (Ajay Devgan) qui est architecte. Celui-ci noie sa peine dans l’alcool et confie à Khushi que sa bien-aimée Pooja (Sonali Bendre) a refusé de vivre dans la maison qu’il avait bâtie pour abriter leur amour sur les hauteurs de Shimla. Cette nouvelle tombe à point pour Khushi qui n’a plus de toit ; elle décide donc de partir à la recherche de la maison inhabitée et d’y établir refuge ! Pour tout indice, elle a une serviette en papier sur laquelle Ranbir a dessiné la maison en question.

For years an aging Rukmini Bai (Shabana Azmi) has been the Madame of a brothel in Hyderabad, India. One day she gets the news that she now has a new landlord in Mr. Gupta (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), whose daughter is to marry the mayor's son Sushil, shortly. Led by City Councillor, Shantidevi, the people in this town demand that this brothel be moved elsewhere, preferably on the outskirts of the town, and they do succeed, compelling Rukmini to move with her women to their new location, which happens to be near the Dargah of Baba Karak Shah. Ironically, this attracts a lot of people, and the patronage to Rukmini's bordello increases. Then complications set in when Sushil refuses to marry his father's choice, childlike Malti, and wants to marry Zeenat (Smita Patil) - a prostitute, not entirely by choice and seeking for a better existence, who resides with Rukmini.
