Em Magan is a 2006 Tamil family drama film written and directed by Thirumurugan. Bharath, Gopika and Nassar played the lead roles, while Vadivelu and Saranya Ponvannan appeared in supporting roles. Upon release, the film met with positive critical reception and commercial success.
It was remade in Kannada as "Puthra" with Diganth.
Synopsis
Thirumalai (Nassar) runs a provision shop in a village. He is called by the nick name Emden after the German battleship SMS Emden that threatened the east coast of British India in circa 1910. His son Krishna (Bharath), a student of poultry science, helps him in the shop. A strict father Emden is always at his son's back. His strict ways of dealing his son leaves an uncomfortable scene in the house. Vadivelu (Krishna's uncle) is the only solace for him in the house.Acteurs

Obligé de fuir Thoothukudi, pour des raisons politiques et surtout, après avoir abattu un policier, meurtrier de son père, un activiste, le jeune Vélou (Kamal Hassan) finit par échouer à Bombay, dans un bidonville tamoul. Là, un vieux pêcheur musulman le prend sous son aile et lui apprend les ficelles du métier. En grandissant, Vélou prend conscience des brimades et des injustices faites à sa communauté. Il décide d'y mettre un terme, le jour où, il supprime, dans le sang et la violence, un représentant de l'ordre corrompu et à l'origine de tous les malheurs. Il devient dès lors, Vélou-Nayagar, le "parrain-justicier" pour ses compatriotes, les protégeant, face à toutes formes d'injustice, durant plusieurs décennies, tel un ange exterminateur.. Le héros finira par se brûler les ailes.

Thavasi (Vijaykanth) is an influential, do-good landlord in a small village, who commands respect from village. Thavasi and his wife (Jayasudha) arrange for the marriage of their son Boopathi (Vijaykanth) with Priyadarshini/Priya (Soundarya). Sankarapandi (Nassar) who had killed Thavasi's sister, after marrying her wants to marry his daughter (whom he had with his second wife) to Boopathi. Maragathammal hates Boopathi and treats him like a dirt though Boopathi tolerates it. Sankarapandi wants his daughter to wed Bhoopathi. Boopathi unknown to Maragathammal saves Thanagarasu's dumb sister from Kottaiperumal and also reforms Kaarmegam which Karmegam reveals to Maragathammal in Boopathi's marriage. In the end, a goon who was supposed to be dumb blurts out the truth that Sankarapandi was responsible for the temple theft and he murdered Thanagarasu and made it to look like suicide. In the end, Bhoopathi unites with Priyadarshini.

In the South Indian kingdom of Cholapuram Paalayam in the year 1771, Raja Mokkaiyappar and his queen, Rajamatha Bhavani Ammaiyar are desperate for a child, as all their previous twenty-two children have died at birth. Unknown to them, Bhavani's brother, Sangilimayan, who is also the Rajaguru (Chief Minister), is responsible for the death of their children. Sangilimayan is shocked to see that his sister has given birth to twins. Before informing the king about the birth, he calls the palace astrologer, Chinnavadayaan, who predicts that the elder twin will be incapable of making decisions on his own while the younger one will be smarter. Sangilimayan orders the palace doctor, Kailasakaruppan, to kill the younger one, but Chinnavadayaan tells Sangilimayan that his actions would not be good for the kingdom. Instead, Sangilimayan orders the palace doctor to abandon the child in a nearby river. The elder child is named Pulikecei XXIII. Maragathavalli, Kailasakaruppan's childless wife, rescues the abandoned child from the river, and the couple decides to raise him as their own, naming him Ukraputhan.
