Pulapaka Susheela (తెలుగు : పులపాక సుశీల), (Kannada : ಪಿ. ಸುಶೀಲಾ) popularly known as P. Susheela, is a legendary Indian playback singer associated with the South Indian Cinema for over six decades. She is the recipient of five National Awards for Female Playback and numerous state awards. Susheela is widely acclaimed as a singer who defined feminism in South Indian Cinema and
is well known for her mellifluous vocal performances for 40,000 film songs across South Indian languages. The song and "Paal Polave" from "Uyarndha Manidhan" remain popular today in Tamil Nadu. At the 16th National Film Awards, it won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for P. Susheela, making it the first Tamil film to win a National Award under that category. She was recommended for “Bharat Ratna”, the country’s highest civilian award in the year 2013 by the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Hailed as "Lata of the South", "Melody Queen", "Nightingale of the South, "Gana Kokila", "Gana Saraswathi", she is also considered one of the rich voiced singers whose pronunciation of the syllables to be more clear and precise in any of the languages she sang. In a career spanning more than six decades, she has recorded numerous songs in various Indian languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Sanskrit, Tulu, Badaga. She has also sung for Sinhalese films. Her mother tongue is Telugu. Biographie
She was born in a Telugu-speaking family in Andhra Pradesh, India, as the daughter of Pulapaka Mukunda Rao, a leading advocate in Vizianagaram, Vizianagaram District, Andhra Pradesh State. The noted banker Pulapaka Seethapathi Rao, former managing director of State Bank of Hyderabad, was her father's younger brother along with Pulapaka Ragupathi Rao. She is married to Mohan Rao; they have a son named Jayakrishna and two granddaughters named Jayashree and Subashree. Her daughter-in-law, Sandhya Jayakrishna, is a singer who debuted with A. R. Sesha Ratnam (Sarada) is very rich and headstrong women in the village Nakkabokkalapaadu. Even her husband Veera Bhadrayya (Kaikala Satyanarayana) Fears Her. They have two daughters Shobha and Neeru. Anjali Devi is Veera Bhadrayya’s Mother. Venkateswara Rao/Venkanna (Nandamuri Balakrishna) is the grand son of Anjali Devi and Nephew to Veera Bhadrayya. Sesha Ratnam doesn’t get well with her mother-in-law and never allows any of husband’s relatives to enter into her house. Veera Bhadrayya wants one of her daughters to get married to his nephew Venkateswara Rao. But Sesha Ratnam opposes the proposal. Marziana (P. Bhanumathi) is a dancer in Baghdad. The tyrant Sher Khan, commander of the notorious king Amir Kasim Khan (M. G. Chakrapani), tries to take her by force to his palace. Vers la domination britannique en Inde, un homme du nom de Senapathy décide de se rebeller contre les Britanniques. Obligé de fuir Thoothukudi, pour des raisons politiques et surtout, après avoir abattu un policier, meurtrier de son père, un activiste, le jeune Vélou (Kamal Hassan) finit par échouer à Bombay, dans un bidonville tamoul. Jagannadharao, a leading lawyer marries Janaki and fathers to a son (Master Arjun). Indrasena Varma and his friend Rudrayya addicts Jagannadharao to drinking. According to a plan, they accuse Janaki as fallen woman, and try to get rid off her along with child, by provoking the people stoning her to death, when Jagannadharao falls unconscious owing to heavy drinking. In the temple of Shiva, Janaki names her son as Jamadagni (Krishna). She commits suicide whilst Young Jamadagni lights the lamp at Shivlinga. Young Jamadagni takes his dead mother on a small wheel cart to a graveyard and there he performs cremation. Jaggayya marries Parvatamma for the second time and fathers to a son named Chandram (Krishna) and a daughter (Poornima). Parvatamma comes to know about the treachery and threatens Indrasena Varma and Rudrayya that she calls the police. Nevertheless She loses her eyesight when pushed by Indrasena Varma and Rudrayya, whilst Jagannadharao is stroked by hand paralysis. Indrasena Varma and Rudrayya grabs the property of Jagannadharao. Paralyzed Jagannadharao and his family leaves the riches.
