Synopsis
Shalini (Divya Bharti) is sister of a rich bussinessman Rajesh Saxena (Suresh Oberoi). She is in love with her classmate Arun Kumar (Prithvi), who is an orphan. But she dont tell Arun about this because he don't like her, He think Shalini would have a attitude of a rich girl. When Rajesh come to know about his sister's love he goes to meet Arun only to find out that he is an orphan and dont even has his own house and is living in a appartment.Acteurs

Aarti (Karisma Kapoor), dont la mère est morte, vit avec son père bien-aimé (Suresh Oberoi) et son antipathique belle-mère Shalini (Archana Puran Singh) qui complote avec son frère pour récupérer l'héritage familial. Un univers de faste et d'abondance où seul le paraître et les mondanités sont de mise. Aarti désire un jour se rendre à Palankhet, le village où se sont connus ses parents... Elle s'y rend accompagnée de ses deux employées de maison (pour ne pas dire servantes)... vraiment particulières ! Un jeune chauffeur de taxi bourru, au cœur tendre, indépendant et accessoirement excellent chanteur, Raja Hindustani (Aamir Khan), les accompagne. Il s'est ainsi nommé parce qu'il est son propre maître, Raja, et Hindustani-Indien, car il ne se revendique d'aucune ethnie particulière (hindoue, musulmane, etc.). Raja est aussi un grand timide à cheval sur les principes... Le voyage dure un jour et il est convenu de faire un arrêt de nuit dans un hôtel. Mais les deux « drôles de dames » qui les accompagnent ont oublié de valider leur réservation, et Raja propose gentiment de les héberger.

Aman (Sanjay Dutt) is an impoverished, lame orphan who is befriended by wealthy Akash Verma (Salman Khan) during his childhood. Akash's parents adopt Aman and give him their family name, so Akash and Aman grow up as brothers. While Akash is a womaniser, Aman takes to writing poems under the pen name Sagar. The poems get published, and Aman becomes very popular. One of his fans is a young woman by the name of Pooja Saxena (Madhuri Dixit), who corresponds with Sagar. Akash meets Pooja and falls head over heels in love with her. When Aman comes to know of this, he asks Akash to pose as Sagar, which he does, then Pooja and Akash fall in love with each other. A heartbroken Aman looks on, as he knows that although women may like his poetry, they will never come out openly and love him when they see his handicap. Akash discovers that Aman loves Pooja and that he is actually Sagar, through a string of events triggered by a Pankaj Udhas show. Akash confronts Aman with this and Aman admits that he loves Pooja. Pooja witnesses this encounter and becomes upset with both Akash and Aman. Akash convinces Pooja and she eventually ends up accepting Aman.

After his business partner leaves him penniless, Parvati's husband passes away, leaving behind two sons, Prabhakar (Satyen Kappu), Sudhakar (Jeetendra) and a dumb daughter Gauri (Meena T), on the verge of destitution. When Prabhakar grows up, he marries Pooja (Kanan Kaushal) and moves out. Meanwhile, as time passes, Sudhakar grows up, completes his schooling, gets a job out of the town and relocates. When Gauri is not allowed to marry Murli (Asrani), she commits suicide and so does Murli, calling for Sudhakar back home. Sudhakar marries wealthy Padma (Leena Chandavarkar) and brings her home. Padma dislikes playing second fiddle even to Parvati leading to disagreements in the household. Padma's pregnancy too fails to resolve any of the problems. Thus the couple re-locates to Padma's palatial house in the city, leaving an ailing Parvati on her own. The rest of the film shows how Padma understands the value of family ties and brothers, Prabhakar and Sudhakar, get together to unite the family.
